Mark Richardson

Mark has been in the music industry for 35 years. Working in Promotions with Worldwide Talent Agency and Marketing at Virgin Records. He was the Head of Marketing at SBK Records, Marketing Director/General Manager at CBS Records (later Sony Music) and Managing Director at Independiente.  Throughout this time, Mark worked with artists such as Paula Abdul, Vanilla Ice, Jamiroquai, Des’ree, and Reef. A highlight of his early career was winning a US MTV award for Best Video with Jamiroquai’s “Virtual Insanity”.

Mark has been a board member on the BPI council (bpi.co.uk), the AIM board (musicindie.org) and the OCC (Official Charts Company), deciding rules and policy.  He provided expert evidence to a UK Government select committee on culture, media and sport in the House of Commons. 2007 saw a move to Australia where he formed Forum5 with Fremantlemedia, managing finalists of TV’s “Masterchef” and a selection of top Australian celebrity chefs. Forum 5’s musical division included Bertie Blackman who released her “Secret And Lies” album, winning her an AIR and ARIA Award.

Mark set up OUTPOST Management in 2010. Here, he worked with Kimbra, who’s first album VOWS debuted in the US billboard top 200 at Number 14 and achieved platinum status in her native NZ/Australia. She won the ARIA Award for ‘Best Female Artist’ twice in 2011-2012 and 5 of the 6 Tui New Zealand Music Awards. In 2013 she gained a “Record of the Year” Grammy for her contribution to Gotye’s global hit “Somebody That I Used To Know” and the pair picked up another Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

In 2016 Mark partnered with Ahilleas Papantos to create a subsidiary of Outpost, ROAM Esports, Australia’s leading esports agency. In 2017, ROAM was highlighted as best in class by PwC in their Australian Entertainment & Media Outlook. ROAM works with companies such as Village Roadshow, Mammoth Esports, PwC and Fortress Esports to connect them with the esports and gaming world.  OG Agency, Outpost’s marketing division, was created in 2018. OG Agency specialise in youth marketing, particularly in music and gaming industries. Previous clients include Caroline Records, Cooking Vinyl and Live Nation. OG Agency also works with Box Hill Institute for promote their music courses and new state of the art recording studios.
